Back in training for summer

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Hi everyone,

Apologies for being slack on my blogging recently but my training has really taken a back seat of late and i’m very disappointed in myself. It seems to have been one injury after another.

First my neck, then my back then my wrist and so on! makes me wonder whether keeping fit is good for your health! haha.

Anyways, I had a good session back last night on my chest and triceps. Bit tight in the back today but that is to be expected i guess.

Just got back from a week in the lake district and did a lot of walking which seems to have been a good kick start to my summer regime ( although no point as it is such RUBBISH weather at the moment, so much for the promise of a good summer ).

Going again tonight, going to try and have a workout on my shoulders, i’ll let you all know if they hold up tomorrow.

James.

Not written for a while, struggled with an injury over winter but everything is okay now.

Just come back from Belgium where I’ve been styaing with the other Academy girls in a house in Oudenaarde. They are now based there so I’ll be joining them as soon as the exams are over…9 weeks and 2 days…not that I’m counting! It was really good to see the other girls and do some good training. Went to watch Tour of Flanders too which was amazing…although I wished I could have been rding! we stood on the Kapelmuur and watched as the womens race came up it! There were crowds all the way up the climb…the Belgians definitely like a bike race!

Did a mix of long rides and turbo sessions whilst I was out there…mostly double days. Went up a few testing cobbled climbs too…the roads around there are brilliant as they are a mix of flat and hillywith cobblest too, so its easy to do a recovery ride but good for doing efforts or a hard ride.

I’ve got my first race in a couple of week which is part of the Women’s National Series, the Cheshire Classic. Looking forward to racing again as thats what its all about!

All Clear, sort of!

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Well I had my scan and have got the all clear as far as a stress fracture goes which is great news. This means i can now get back on the excercising and fitness work. If it had been a stress fracture al i could have done was rest really until it had healed as they can hang around for a long time unless it heals properly. I’ve now got a course of Physio to do and have lots of excercises to help strengthen the weak muscles in my lower left back. Hopefully i can keep on with the excercises and get my back sorted and pain free before proper training and nets start again in January. I am starting running as of Monday so ill be blogging on that and letting you know how it goes!!

Bad back rears its head again!!!

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Well im going to the physio tonight to go for a session which is specifically focussed on core stability so hopefully ill learn some new excercises to help with this. Its something very important to quick bowlers due to the pressure and strain on your back and the twisting motions during cricket.

Since I first had a stress problem with my back when i was about 13-14 i have had a weak back which has caused me problems on and off for about 7 years now. I really want to build on my strength this winter to try and stop problems like this occuring. With new weights sets and a multi-gym station in my spare room at home now I will get plenty of chance to work on this once i have the all clear on my back.

MRI scan on my back is next week which is surprisingly quick, hopefully they can just tell me its muscle problems which are slightly easier to help as you can do excercises and stretches to aid recovery. If it is a stress fracture or the begginings of a stress fracture then all I can do is wait and rest it which is going to frustrate me, but it will push me into starting my cardio with some nice cold winter runs instead of my nice indoor workouts!!!
