Trying to look buff!

Name: James Driver

Date of Birth: 08 05 81

Occupation: Designer

Sports I do: Bit of a gym goer (that’s putting it lightly as my girlfriend will tell you) - try to go at least 4 times a week but depends on social commitments! haha. Also dabble in the occasional game of tennis on a nice sunny evening and my cycle to work keeps me ticking over!

Sports kit I use: I use mizuno wave riders for my TEDIOUS sessions on the dreaded treadmill! I also use a pair of weight lifting gloves as i am forever biting the calasses on my hands otherwise. Have a bike for my cycles… going to use it more soon as i’m going to go for long country cycles whilst catching some rays!

A bit about me: Well, the reason i am writing this blog is because i use to be a weakling that turned into an action hero!!!! haha…or so i think. Pretty much just a normal guy who likes the normal stuff in life. I am a designer during the day and an enthusiast who’s alter ego of arnie comes out in the evenings. I also enjoy not taking my self too seriously…as you can tell.

Some of my best sporting achievements so far: The best sporting achievements i guess is a pretty vain one rather than a “triumph over adversity” one. I was a guy who went away to uni weighing under 10 stone and always getting the mickey taken out of me for being slim (sure some of you guys can relate to me) to leaving uni, deciding to not be the weakling anymore and doing something about it. I knuckled down, got committed and beefed myself up to 13 stone ( although slimming down again now as this was a bit too much! ).

My sporting objectives for this year: I guess my goals this year are slightly different to previous years which is why i wanna share it with some of you guys and hope that some of you empathise with me.

Previously all i wanted to do was get really big and muscular…(the guns were always of a massive importance), but this year i am going on holiday in august and am wanting to get leaner and healthier to get the heards turing when i’m strolling down that beach.

The problem with me previously is i trained so hard and ate so much that i got pretty big but wasn’t lean with it… I could bench a ridiculous amount but coun’t run a mile without stopping for a break! You couldn’t see any ab muscles and use to get jibes about being “porky”..(coming from jibes about skinny i originally enjoyed it ) only in jest though! However, for this holiday i am determined to try and get that “Mens Health cover model look” ( maybe not as good as them ) but close. Basically i wanna look lean and athletic rather than a power lifter!

To get this look i need some advice and some input from any of you guys out there trying to do the same as me. At the mo i am stepping up my cardio and trying different programs so try and get the results. Also cutting down on the ridiculous amounts of carbs i use to chuck down my throat several times a day. I’m gunna try and document any changes to try and give me the motivation to keep it going and know when i can pat myself on the back or give myself a kick up the back***e …hope it works!
