Wet

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Did a hill / speed session last night - ’short triangles’ - fast across the bottom flat, fast up hill to the apex then steady jog recovery back to start. Just over 1 min in total x 15 + 1 for luck.

Tonight had steady 3 mile jog with my boys then did a quick blast up hope hill and back on my own. About an hour in total.

Very wet but actually felt good tonight for the first time since the Fellsman 4 weeks ago.

Club training session.

Quick blast of about 1 hour 10 mins - all off road over East Morton and around the plantation on Ilkley Moor.

The quick lads were out last night and running hard so there was little time for sight seeing.

It’s always good to run with people quicker than yourself as you’ll never push yourself that hard training solo.

Day off planned for Friday then entering my rest week before the sail / run fest of next week….

After a night out with friends last night (& a couple too many Krombachers) it’s been a hectic day of chasing the kids around their various activities.

Managed to sneak in a nice 1 hour 40 trot (approx 11 miles at a guess)around the local hills whilst my eldest played cricket (a game I’ve never really understood!). Felt rubbish when I set off but like so many times after 20 mins all the aches and pains had gone and I started to float.

Chuckled to myself at a very small horse - a shetland foal - I swear it was no bigger than a dog…

That’s it now resting down in prep for next weekend.

weekend off

Gym this morning before work, up at 6.45am …. A RIDICULOUS TIME FOR ME! But, like i say… not long now and i’m away this weekend so miss my session tomorrow and probably sunday depending on what time i get back.

Really not happy with my progress at the moment, i feel like i’m not making any gains… HELP!!! anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to kick start it all again?

not long now!

Afternoon everyone.

8 weeks yesterday until holiday… really have to knuckle down now with the training. I even managed to avoid cleaning the house yesterday as i sneaked to the gym under my strict schedule ( or when it suits me! ). I always clean the house incorrectly anyway, whatever i clean, my girlfriend re-cleans so saves me wasting my time and sulking!

Went for a cycle ride the other night again, did baout 5 miles. Did a great back workout yesterday … should have done cardio in theory but always prefer lifting. Chest tonight.

Anyone else out there as bothered about looking good on holiday apart from me?

Andy’s First Blog

Hi everyone - if there’s anybody out there???

My plan is to try and use this blog as a type of training diary so it will hopefully be useful to me to look back on what I do and perhaps even motivate me to do a bit more - time will tell.

I hope I can also post a few bits n bobs on here that you find interesting and I’d be happy to hear from anyone with questions or comments about what I get up to.

If you’ve read my profile you’ll know that the 3 Peaks Yacht Race is coming up fast (28/6) - can’t wait!!

I intend to train all week this week then rest down for a week next week leading up to the start.

Sunday I ran with Bingley Harriers in the Millennium Way Relay then last night had a quick spin with my son on the bike - tonight it’s a speed / hill session in the wood - starts at 7 so must be off now.

See you again soon.

Single arm stability ball dumbell press.

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

This is one of the exercises that i will be doing tonight and someone at work asked me today what this was… so here is a video of an example… its great for feeling the burn in your chest.

i will also be doing press ups on a stability ball, supposedly it helps with your core. Below is a video of this exercise. Does anyone else see this kind of exercise as beneficial or am i wasting my time?

summer training next!

Summer is here!

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

At last the weather seems to represent what the summer sun should be! about time i’m sure you will agree with me.

Me and my missus made the most of the weather. After 15 years of forgetting she even owned a bike she eventually got hers brought up for her from home much to the delight of her parents as it was always clogging up precious paint pots and dusty hammer space in the garage. However, it needs some TLC … especially now as the back break broke during the ride and the front break squeaks like a bunch of howling banshees!

Anyway, we set off on a nice cycle ride on sunday afternoon, only did about 8 miles along a canal cycle path but was a really nice day. Stopped at a pub for sunday lunch, slowly watched my girlfriend turn lobster red on her back, get ridiculous vest marks and I snapped my sunglasses - but apart from that it was a wicked day. If it is nice at the weekend we are going to do it again.

I was back in the gym yesterday on the weights - shoulders and triceps, probably tennis tonight.

Is anyone else getting excited about wimbledon coming up? I need something to to take my mind off our boys not being in the Euro championships.
